Licenses & attributions

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Courtesy translation — the French version is legally authoritative.

Spin & Fly builds on third-party data whose licenses require attribution. We credit those sources here, on top of the attribution control shown directly on every map.

Airport data — OurAirports

The airport data (ICAO codes, positions, names) comes from OurAirports (ourairports.com/data), released into the public domain. No attribution is strictly required, but we credit the source as a courtesy and for the sake of transparency.

Basemap — MapTiler & OpenStreetMap

The basemap is provided by MapTiler. The underlying map data comes from OpenStreetMap and is distributed under the Open Database License (ODbL), which requires attribution even when the tiles pass through an intermediate provider. Every map therefore shows the attribution:

© MapTiler © OpenStreetMap contributors

This attribution is a contractual and license obligation, not a mere courtesy: it must stay visible and unobscured on every map view.

How tile hosting may change

If the basemap later moves to self-managed hosting (Protomaps self-host), the OpenStreetMap / ODbL attribution obligation stays exactly the same: only the tile provider’s name would change in this text — the “© OpenStreetMap contributors” attribution is still owed.
